Summer Workshops Just for Kids!

Summer ArtAcademy

Summer 2024 ArtAcademy workshops ended in early August 2024. The Museum normally offers three to five full weeks (depending upon our exhibition schedule - no classes offered while we change out our exhibitions in July) of themed, half-day workshops for ages 8 to 14 that may include drawing, painting, collage & assemblage, printmaking, fiber arts, comic book design, photography, stop-motion animation and more, depending upon our current staff and their special talents. Occasionally, guest artists join us for summer sessions. We also try to tie one or more of the workshops to a special exhibition. This past summer, almost all of our sessions sold out and had waiting lists.

The schedule for Summer 2025 should be out in February or March 2025.

Why are FAM workshops extra special?

The Museum is a unique environment where children can be inspired and exposed to world-class artwork and antiquities, not just images in a book or posters on a wall. The Fresno Art Museum turned 75 in 2024, and we have been told by many people that classes and workshops at the Museum were a big part of their growing up in Fresno, creating long-lasting and wonderful memories. Our goal is to continue that legacy by offering workshops to engage children and foster a love for the arts, learning, and discovery. Some of our former students have even come back to join us as one of our teaching artists.

Our workshops are taught by working professional artists who bring their special talents and knowledge to every session they teach. All of our teaching artists have had training and experience in working with children, and all strive to transfer their own love of the arts to each of their students in a lively, engaging, and exciting way.

  •  Children must be between the ages of 8 and 14 to participate in these workshops.
  •  We try and limit the number of students in each session to twenty and have two or more of our teaching staff in the classroom
  •  All workshops are taught in English only.
  •  FAM visual art workshops are taught by FAM’s staff of teaching artists.
  •  Sessions normally run between the hours of 9 am and 4:30 pm
  •  Sorry, we do not offer extended care.

Most art materials are included in tuition. Students may be asked to bring some found items from home for some projects.

Policies:  No refunds, unless workshops are canceled by the Museum. The Museum may substitute instructors or workshops, if necessary. All fees must be paid in advance. The Museum will not tolerate bullying, disruptive, violent, or otherwise inappropriate behavior and retains the right to send any child who exhibits such behavior home, without refund.

Family level members and above receive the member discount for students living in the member’s household.
